Nothing brings people together as arts, food and sports does. Taking cognizance of the ongoing beautiful and high-spirited spring festival, the Guizhou Medical University conducted a series of cross-cultural activities to promote unity and harmony on 24th April 2019. The first of the series saw a competition of tug of war between students of School of Overseas Education and School of Basic Medical Sciences. Each team headed by two team leaders consisted 22 students with 10 male and female participants each, with every last of them putting their best efforts in the game.

It began with 2014 batch, everyone was full of energy, enthusiasm& zeal. They tried their level best to come out with flying colors. Their performance pumped up everyone of other batches for their respective matches.

Then was the turn of batch 2015. Students were in full flow and were prepared well to face any sort of situation and that was pretty much visible in their efforts.

Next was batch 2016. They seemed to be well esteemed with high spirits cheering each other, pulling up their socks, it all showed up in their performance as well as later they emerged the winners.

At last it was the turn of batch 2017. New energy and smiling faces with much more strength, mesmerized people with their astonishing performance.

The images are a proof of the indomitable spirits of the players, who clinged on to the rope with every cell of their body hoping to take away the coveted winner title and the consequent prize.

The expressions and positions of the students paint a cheerful picture of the eventful day that it was. But, as the adage goes, 'there can only be one winner' and the undisputed winners were the students of 2016 batch. The winners rightfully took with them a basketball, a football and a pair of badminton rackets as the prize. Giving them a tough fight were the students of batch 2017 who secured the second position, closely following them was 2015 batch acquiring third position& 2014 batch acquired the fourth position.

As the exuberant day unfolded the spirits of students were a force to reckon with. The combined efforts of male and female members of the team all working in harmony towards the same goal is the way world should move forward as.

The University recognizes sports as the binding factor and the day proved they aren't wrong. The sport was fun for pullers and spectators. It is essentially a friendly sport with traditional values. It promotes team spirit with social values. The students showed that it’s a healthy team sport, where each individual learns to contribute to the team or joint effort. This results in cooperation and team discipline along with unity.
